Hakomi is an experiential method which accesses our mindbody wholeness and skilfully supports the organic unfolding of insight and new possibilities.
Hakomi was carefully developed by Ron Kurtz through the integration of neuroscience, eastern philosophy, and systems theory. The soul of the work is rooted in the scientific discovery that our neurology, i.e. our mammalian limbic brain, allows our mere presence to be healing and inspiring to ourselves and others.
The outcome of any Hakomi style contact is always good. It typically involves emotional and spiritual nourishment, new understandings, and an introduction and integration of new ways of being within oneself and in the world.
Hakomi is effective in a wide range of situations, for personal growth and for therapeutic modalities, such as individual and couples therapy, movement and body work, as well as crisis intervention.

An essential element of Hakomi is the Spirit of Hakomi, i.e., the emotional and spiritual attitude or energy we bring to ourselves and our relationships.
Hakomi believes that our state of mind and the atmosphere it creates is primary. The ideal quality of our presence is a precise combination of attitude, emotional state, and a certain focus of attention which invites and supports the natural unfolding of nurturing, transformational experiences.
To develop such presence, we must be aware of ourselves and willing to experiment with new ways of being and interacting. In this workshop, we will do this inner work through gentle experiential exercises, demonstrations, and assisted practice.
Discovering the Spirit of Hakomi is useful for people of all ages and walks of life in all circumstances, not only for therapists. Everyone is invited to experience and fine-tune their personal Spirit of Hakomi.
