Wisdom & Compassion

Separte

mandalaWisdom and Compassion are the two elements of enlightenment, intentional practices which bring more consciousness into our lives. Wisdom aims at the non-conceptual experience of our true nature and compassion is the quality of wisdom's natural relationship with others.

My logo is part of visionary image of the female buddha Yeshe Tsogyal. Among its many meanings, it speaks of the integration of wisdom and compassion, each grounded in emptiness, and its result, the eternal wheels of transcendent joy which are the true marks of the world and all beings.

Who I am today has evolved through my connections with Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism, Hakomi, and Matrixworks.

I am a practitioner and teacher in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism and a practitioner and teacher of the Hakomi Method and Matrixworks. These paths all share the goal of getting out of our "history", experiencing ourselves authentically, and living in the relational world with compassion.

My Vajrayana training began thirty years ago in Canada with Kalu Rinpoche and the XVI Karmapa. At the moment, I live in Hawai'i and my teachers are the Dzogchen master, Lama Tharchin Rinpoche and through guru yoga practice, the late Dudjom Rinpoche, Jigdral Yeshe Dorje, one of the greatest Tibetan masters of the 20th century. In 1992, under Tharchin Rinpoche's guidance, I became a "lama" or teacher, and in 2001, I established Jnanasukha (Wisdom Bliss), dedicated to the the "Dakini Heart Essence" transmission from the female buddha Yeshe Tsogyal to His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche. Hakomi draws from several sources such as neuroscience, eastern philosophy, and systems theory, to provide a method of accessing deep meaning, healing, and growth.

My Hakomi-based work is called Mind Body Insight. I am a passionate advocate of intentionally deepening our connection to ourselves, to others, and to the larger environment. I enjoy using the Hakomi methodology as well as Buddhist principles for connectedness, expanded awareness, and the organic unfolding of insight and creative possibilities.

I have eight years of training with Ron Kurtz, the originator of Hakomi, including a three-year intensive with him in Mexico from 2000-2003. I have been very fortunate to further my training with Donna Martin, a senior international trainer, and to organize her professional trainings on Maui from 2005-2008. In 2007, I received my Hakomi Certification (CHT) and in 2008, I was certified as a Hakomi teacher. Please contact me for more information about individual sessions, workshops, and skills training on the Big Island of Hawaii and on the US mainland. More about Hakomi: http://www.hakomi.com/

In 2008 , I began training in Matrixworks, a process fine-tuned by Mukara Meredith, MSW, CHT, which supports the growth and development of healthy functioning groups. More about Matrixworks: http://www.matrixworks.org

To notice what arises inside, without judgment, is the essence of Hakomi and a pathway to deep and abiding healing. Hakomi is a journey of assisted self discovery, a journey through mindfulness to wholeness. The Hakomi method, as developed by Ron Kurtz, draws from the vast worlds of science, spirituality, and psycho-therapy, yet the practice itself remains simple. Look within. Learn from yourself. Be guided by your inner wisdom in all its many expressions. The methods we use are gentle, experiential, often playful, and almost always revealing. Nothing is imposed. We avoid analysis and we allow meaning to arise from within.
